E-commerce Lead - London
Full Job Description
Wanted: E-Commerce Lead
(Challenging, important work, brilliant people to work with, huge staff discount, an amazing culture of freedom and responsibility, and a total lack of corporate rubbish)
About us:
We’re a multi-award-winning drinks and technology start-up on a mission to disrupt the drinks industry.
We’re re-imagining online drinks retail from the ground up, using cutting edge technology and fanatical customer service to build a company we want to be customers of and create unexpected delight as we help people explore, buy and enjoy high end whisky and other spirits.
In everything we do, we are disruptive innovators; it is baked into our DNA to challenge orthodoxy and received wisdom wherever we find it.
We’ve grown a lot since we were just a few kids in a shed with big dreams, but we haven’t lost our hunger to build something great, and we’re looking for people who have the same passion for making things better to join us on that journey.
In the last 10 years we’ve become the number 1 player in our industry, but we’ve barely gotten started. We’re excited about the future, so if you’d like to come and help us build it, read on!
The role:
The work is exceptionally challenging, complex and rewarding.
Reporting to Jason (Master of Malt GM), you’ll play a pivotal role not only in developing, but also delivering / executing our eCommerce strategy, across Site Design, Content & Performance Marketing, SEO, Campaigns, Subscription, and Editorial and will have a significant impact on the overall strategy of the business.
In your first 30 days you’ll go on a crash course to deeply understand our (very) complex vertically integrated business.
In your first 60 days you’ll have worked with the GM to Map out (and begun to execute) our 12 month strategy to optimise transactional and non-transactional elements of the customer journey and built strong relationships with our tech and product teams to prioritise, plan and execute delivery.
In your first 90 days you’ll have delivered several key initiatives and be well into the journey to build the best end-to-end customer retail experience the world has ever known.
Remote but within easy reach of our London/Tonbridge offices as you’ll be required to be onsite 3 times a month (although you’re welcome more if you prefer the office vibe!)
Primary tasks and responsibilities
- A dual role, you’ll be the lead in your remit when it comes to strategy, but a ‘sleeves up’ and hands on mentality to delivery will also be key.
- Devise and rollout a scalable framework that streamlines, and maximises, 3rd party advertisement revenue.
- Apply best in class performance and content marketing to drive customer acquisition, conversion, loyalty and retention.
- Ensure the use of consumer insights, competitor analysis, market opportunities, website data, product performance and business needs to maximise revenue and profitability of the site.
- Drive growth by optimising new and existing multichannel marketing campaigns.
- Work with our UX, product and software development teams to define, build, and deliver exceptional consumer journeys that make it easier for customers to buy the products they love, supporting the business in driving acquisition, conversion, loyalty and retention.
About you:
- You want to rise to the challenge of building a cutting-edge ecommerce platform and an all-star team that can do what others can’t.
- You dream to deliver “consumer delight”, with our vision at the very heart of your ideas.
- You are highly intelligent, tenacious and motivated. You are utterly intolerant of corporate mediocrity.
- You have a positive can-do attitude, you learn fast, and relish a challenge. You question things and need to understand them on a deep level. You get out of bed each morning excited to get cracking and make things better.
- You are exceptionally curious and creative – solving hard problems is what you live for.
- You love efficiency and hate waste in all its forms – you relentlessly automate and eliminate repetitive tasks. You are extremely proud of how little manual repetitive work your department does. You build a culture of continuous improvement.
- You have the technical skills to understand each team members’ contributions and lead by example in the pursuit of the best possible results. Knowledge transfer is important to you – you coach, mentor and upskill your peers often without even realising it, it’s ingrained into your DNA as much as it is into ours’.
The successful candidate will have:
- Significant E-com experience, providing leadership and / or as the ‘go to’ in a full stack seasonal e-commerce operation with high SKU count (10k+)
- Strong demonstrated skills and know-how in performance and content marketing
- Understand how to work with, and get the best out of, all stakeholders
- Deep analytical and business skills, with the ability to translate key data into insights for the senior leadership team
- High EQ and IQ
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment
- Believe technology is the solution to (almost) every problem
It would be great if you:
- Have built an Ad-Tech or E-com platform from the ground up
Benefits
We’re all about boundless curiosity, so you’ll discover loads of opportunities to spark your creative flair and work along-side unreal talent who all have the same job description, to ‘Make Atom Successful.’ Trust is at the epicentre of all that we can do, so you’ll work in a transparent and honest environment where we have each other’s backs, and be free of aging corporate policies and rules.
Life here’s about so much more than pay and benefits – you might get a slightly higher salary if you cram onto an expensive, crowded commuter train into the city, but you’ll struggle to find a company with the flex, agility and unique-ness that we have. In short, we’ve got you covered financially but if money is your main driver, we’re not for you.
We hate waste in all of it’s forms and time is no different, so we’re focused on productivity and output rather than when or where you work, or what you wear into the office – you can come in fancy dress for all we care! This means that although we can’t promise anything, flexible working options are built into our DNA.
Along with the stuff you get for turning up to work each day (think private healthcare scheme, unlimited annual leave, pension, cycle-2-work, eye care, enhanced maternity & paternity leave, free food, drinks and parking at the office), you’ll also get a healthy staff discount on our world-class range (just in case that makes a difference).
Coupling great technology with passionate, capable people is how we win.
We don’t sit still, and there’s a lot more to come… Apply now if you want to join us.
