About the role

The E-Commerce commercial lead is responsible for the set-up and lead of the E-Commerce business and squad developing it to a full market proposition. You will own the strategy and P&L supported by an executable roadmap that will deliver significant commercial growth and provide us with a strong commercial position and a clear growth trajectory for the future.

You will need to scale up the business at pace, developing a “start-up” culture which has agility and flexibility to work and deliver within the new operating model.

You will need the ability to read and react to the market and build capabilities and products that both win profitable business and solves a compelling problem for clearly defined customer segments.

You will need to be up to date on trends and emerging functionality to maintain and drive our market leading conversion rates.

You will be an ambassador for OS both internally and externally with exemplary customer and stakeholder management skills.

Some of the responsibilities for the E-Commerce Lead will be to:

  • Set and agree a clear vision and strategic direction for the E-Commerce channel, with ownership of delivery, P&L performance and business objectives
  • Lead all aspects of the E-Commerce business including new business development, customer acquisition / retention, customer service, all promotional activities and any other tactical activity
  • Implement and optimise the agreed E-Commerce strategy via the designated squad and optimal use of the matrix structure to deliver significant commercial growth
  • Work with Expert functions and hold accountable for agreed deliverables
  • Identify, engage and influence key stakeholders, driving relationships and collaborations to ensure-e-commerce projects are prioritised and delivered
  • Build the squad capability and capacity to execute the strategy. Create and embed a high performance-oriented team with a culture of personal accountability, collaboration and shared success with an absolute focus on customer
  • Define and communicate market requirements to help direct product development and pricing strategies to satisfy customer and business needs
  • Play an active role and working beyond designated squad to help achieve over-arching business goals / objectives
  • Support the building of a global brand presence leveraging and enhancing the reputation of OS
  • Support the identification and management of the necessary key third party suppliers and partners to execute the strategy
  • Champion compliance of all policy & process and the Health and Safety of the team
  • Build and lead the E-Commerce business (within the matrix) to deliver a full go to market proposition
  • Develop and implement a five-year strategy for E-Commerce and implement an actionable plan to achieve growth targets and develop and grow a network of strategic go-to-market partnerships that enable profitable growth
  • Build organisational capacity and capability to support the full execution of the ECommerce strategy
  • Responsible for stakeholder engagement, developing existing customer relationships and growing new customer relationships
  • Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships
  • Create and establish a global brand for E-Commerce leveraging and enhancing the reputation of OS as the next generation national geospatial agency of Great Britain
  • Transform OS to be truly customer-led and focused
  • Represent OS at relevant customer, industry and innovation forums
  • Create and embed a high performance-oriented culture of personal accountability, collaboration and shared success

What we’re looking for

  • Senior level of E-Commerce delivery with strong growth, development and site optimisation experience
  • Very strong commercial skills particularly in conversion rate optimisation and driving site improvements to maximise customer experience and reach
  • Experience in delivering multi-phase, multi-team projects
  • Clear understanding of technology developments to enable the business to stay on top of new developments
  • Excellent at delivering through others and managing stakeholders
  • Understands the importance of maximising the audience and ensuring that value is driven beyond the site into the core OS brand.
  • Excellent at thinking strategically, prioritising and evaluating new opportunities
  • Excellent P&L management and operating within cost boundaries.
  • Experience in product presentation and sales strategy and creation or consulting for a multinational and large-scale business
  • Experience of managing communication plans and helping to position seasonality of product through our marketing activity coupled with a solid understanding of the benefits of content
  • Strong analytical skills, strategic mind-set, and a positive can-do demeanour
  • Self-motivated and high-reaching, with ability to perform under ambiguity and complexity
  • Passion for working collaboratively and working in a global and fast-paced environment

Location: We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to spend one day a month with the remaining time being a personal choice as to whether you work from home, at one of our regional offices or spend more time at OSHQ.
