Ecommerce Copywriter (3-month FTC) – Hobbycraft Head Office, Christchurch, BH23 6HG.

This is a part time role, working 30 hours a week over 4 days. Our core business hours are Monday to Friday – 9am to 5pm but we have a flexible approach to start and finish times.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Copywriter, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Ecommerce team at the UK’s leading arts and crafts retailer. How customers discover our products is at the heart of our online success and your core focus will be writing enticing, accurate and comprehensive product descriptions that bring our products to life. You will need a talent for words, great attention to detail, the ability to empathise with customer needs and to develop a passion for our diverse product range. You will also be a team player, taking an active role in driving the wider team goals to deliver impactful product launches and campaigns.
Accountabilities
- Work as part of the product content team, writing a consistent number of product descriptions each day, according to the new product pipeline plan
- Adhere to the copywriting guidelines, including minimum word count, tone of voice and identifying the key product features
- Carry out product research online if required to ensure a comprehensive description.
- Pay close attention to detail to ensure that all product descriptions are accurate, and copy is grammatically correct
- Insert HTML coding into the descriptions according to the technical guidelines
- Manage product descriptions in MS Excel and upload to our Ecommerce platform
- Carry out SEO research and ensure copy is SEO compliant
- Answer and action customer service queries when relevant to product copy
- Deliver other ad hoc copy requirements as part of the marketing and trading campaign calendar
- Attend team planning and performance meetings to understand the wider plan, goals and performance drivers
- Stay up to date with competitor and retail web sites copywriting and continually strive to deliver best practice
About You
- Degree level or equivalent qualification in a related subject
- Excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills
- Clear communication skills
- Ideally some experience of writing copy in a ‘real world’ business scenario
- Ideally some familiarity with basic HTML code
- Experience of MS Excel
- Strong empathy for human user needs
- Able to work to a brief and follow guidelines
- Someone who is thorough with good attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- A strong team player and communicator; able to work effectively with employees at all levels
- A self starter, who can hit deadlines and get things done without constant supervision
- Someone with ambition who wants to develop their career in ecommerce and sees this as an exciting opportunity to work for a fast growing online brand
