The Head of Online Trading is a key member of the eCommerce senior leadership team, responsible for delivering the commercial plan for currys.co.uk and carphonewarehouse.com websites. The role will manage the online trading, merchandising & operations, and performance marketing teams (PPC & Affiliates). This is a high-profiled position and requires exceptionally robust commercial acumen, excellent senior stakeholder management, strong leadership and great communication skills. You will be results focused, analytical and a real trader at heart.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Reporting, translating and owning online trading performance throughout the business on a continuous basis; understand the key drivers of trade & drive recommendations through storytelling, listening & asking questions
  • Defining and owning the ecommerce sales strategy that drives top line and margin growth to achieve our key category objectives
  • Work with Finance and other key stakeholders to manage the budgeting process for online
  • Own and manage site merchandising to optimize product, category pages and brand shops; leveraging our tools from reviews and recommendations
  • Support the performance marketing teams in communicating and delivering their strategy of optimising spend to ensure we drive profit
  • Keep up to date with innovations in ecommerce, omnichannel retailing and service development
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product, Head of UXDigital Design & Head of Analytics to improve & drive commerciality of our customer experience & site performance metrics to take appropriate action where necessary
  • Engage and influence our commercial squads to ensure we are maximising our online range development, promotion planning and sales opportunities.

Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong collaboration, relationship building & influencing skills to manage key stakeholders at all levels
  • Expert knowledge of the key drivers of eCommerce performance & online marketing
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • Strong demonstrable experience across Commercial and eCommerce ideally within a FTSE250 retailer
  • Ability to articulate the complexity of web and digital into common language
  • Excellent analytical skills; detail oriented and good at simplifying data insights
  • Excellent prioritisation skills, work to deadlines and under pressure
  • Excellent team player and leadership skills – work with, support and drive a large team.
