What does the team do
The Solutions Analytics team provides data and insights across all areas of the Ocado Smart Platform (OSP). Our aim is to help our Partners get the best possible results from OSP as well as spotting opportunities to optimise and improve the platform. The team also takes the lead in cross-functional analytics/optimisation projects, working with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
What would I be doing?
This role will help drive forward in our use of data analytics across OSP. We have an ambition to become more data driven in our decision making and this role is integral to translating that ambition into reality.
This role is a leadership role that will provide a focal point for the craft of Analytics across OSP and help guide the direction of how the Analysts work as well as driving forward key initiatives where insights are critical to our success.
The lead analyst will be responsible for leading part of the Solutions Analytics Team and will report to the Head of Analytics, Ocado Solutions. The Lead Analyst will help to set the strategic direction of data insight within the team and will not be scared of being hands on in driving insight generation through our products and helping deliver significant benefits to customer experience or partner economics.
The lead analyst will also take line management responsibilities for typically 3-5 Analysts within the team and will be in charge of their continuous improvement within the Analytics spectrum including mentoring, coaching, 1:1s and feedback.
Lead the Analyst team:
- Lead the team to produce well structured and tested insights for their stakeholders.
- Champion best practices, provide opportunities for learning and sharing and support the team with your technical experience.
- Ensure the right processes are in place and providing value.
- Facilitate the continuous improvement of the team with mentoring, coaching, 1:1s and feedback; create and lead a happy, high performing team of world class Analysts
- Take line management responsibility for the team members; put your people first.
- Recruit new team members if required and assist the new starters.
- Protect the right balance between high standards, autonomy and timely delivery of insights.
Individual contributor:
- Work with leadership stakeholders to define, monitor and report on the key partner metrics for our platform
- Conduct analysis and apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers. Show how what we are developing is affecting our key metrics
- Create dashboards, automated reports and alerts that provide insight to how we are progressing against our targets
- Set and regularly review the strategic direction of data within OSP

- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Hands-on experience using SQL/BigQuery & Excel/Google Sheet
- Experience with data visualisation tools like Data Studio, Looker, Tableau
This would make you stand out from the crowd
- Strong commercial experience with online grocery or take-away services or other eCommerce platforms
- Strong experience with Supply Chain Planning, Logistics and Home Delivery analytics (especially in Retail industry)
- Experience in a Senior or Lead Data Analyst capacity
- Experience with data oriented programming languages like Python
