Overview

Reporting to the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, you will lead and be the custodian for our SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

You will influence and provide guidance across teams using compelling insight and data in every decision-making step, using influencing multiple stakeholders to continuously drive our SEO performance.

This is a hybrid role, where you’ll be based in our Head Office in Yeovil 3 days a week, working flexibly around the core office hours of 10am-3pm.

Key responsibilities

  • Be the in-house Screwfix expert for SEO in all our major markets (UK & IE)
  • Research and maintain up to date knowledge of the all the latest Google algorithm developments and ensure that any required changes are impact assessed and prioritised in the product roadmap
  • Identify and support the prioritisation of opportunities for improvement, helping to turn theory into step-by-step actions, collaborating, influencing, and working across teams.
  • Collaborate with our Content teams to ensure SEO best practice is defined, understood, adopted and measured for continuous improvement
  • Ownership of the SEO revenue targets for UK & IE including weekly reporting for the ecommerce trading meeting and running monthly SEO reviews
  • Work with the Group team to create a testing framework for SEO strategies and campaigns to improve site visibility and improve search rankings
  • Collaborate and influence Product Owners to ensure SEO requirements are clearly defined and prioritised within our roadmap to ensure our platforms are full optimised for SEO
  • Define measurement frameworks and ambitious but motivating SEO targets, ensuring this is presented and reported on to provide a compelling story to support and influence your recommendations
  • Take the lead role in managing our agency support model ensuring we are balancing internal and external expertise effectively, ensuring that external support/performance requirements are defined, measured and managed
  • Manage the relationship with our merchandising team to ensure they are fully trained and following best practise in their SEO responsibilities
  • Lead the development of our local SEO strategy, engaging key stakeholders with priorities for the year, collaborating with internal teams to drive and deliver required changes timely and effectively
  • Review and maintain knowledge and awareness of the external market, continually using observations and insight to help inform short and long term priorities to support our competitive advantage

Required skills & experience

  • 4+ years’ experience and expertise across all SEO disciplines, including delivery of; SEO Strategy, Technical, Content & Digital Marketing
  • Extensive understanding of the SEO tools and technologies landscape
  • Experience of working in an agile, fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to explain complex SEO challenges in a user-friendly way
  • Working knowledge of Paid Search with practical experience of testing to optimise our returns across Search holistically and the interplay between them
  • Site Performance testing experience using tools such as Google Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights and GTMetrix, for identifying issues and benchmarking improvements
  • Local Search optimisation and driving location based search traffic
  • Required Tools: Search Console, Google Analytics, Microsoft Excel
  • Preferable not Essential:
  • BrightEdge, ContentKing, SEMRush, SQL, Google Big Query, Microsoft Power BI, JIRA, Confluence
