Purpose/Summary
Reporting to the eCommerce Trading Manager, we are looking for an enthusiastic and eager to learn eCommerce Assistant to join our team. This role sits within the eCommerce team and supporting in managing and maintaining the website, analysing performance, and working with internal teams and our 3rd parties on briefing and launching new initiatives.
This is a varied role with multiple tasks and duties. Some days that might be product updates. Other days it could be supporting a campaign launch or checking the site for issues before a busy period. It’s a good starting point if you’re looking to build a career in eCommerce. You’ll see how decisions are made, how the site is managed, and how small changes can impact performance. We’re not expecting loads of experience. What matters more is how you approach the work.
Key Accountabilities
- Support with the day-to-day management of the website, ensuring content is accurate, up to date, and presented to a high standard
- Upload and maintain product listings, including product descriptions, imagery, and key information
- Assist with on-site merchandising, including category organisation and product placement
- Support the setup and execution of promotions, campaigns, and trading activity
- Work closely with the eCommerce team to ensure campaigns go live correctly and on time
- Carry out regular website checks to identify errors, broken links, or areas for improvement
- Assist with updating on-site content, including banners and landing pages
- Support in pulling basic performance reports and completing data checks
- Work with internal teams such as Marketing, Brand, and Operations to support campaign delivery
- Assist in briefing and coordinating with third-party partners where required
- Take ownership of smaller tasks and projects, ensuring they are completed accurately and on time
- Wider company support, for example as a team, we occasionally support our warehouse team on the picking and packing of products during peak times
Person Specification
Essential:
- Passion for eCommerce, innovation, and the customer experience
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive approach, with a willingness to ask questions and learn
- Comfortable using systems, or confident picking up new tools quickly
- Basic understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, most notably Excel
- Good communication skills and collaborator who enjoys working cross-functionally as part of a team
- A positive attitude and a willingness to get stuck into different areas of the role
- Positive attitude with high level of motivation, initiative and creativity
- Flexibility in terms of role, supporting the wider business and working hours where required (e.g. Black Friday)
Desirable:
- Previous experience in an eCommerce, retail, or digital role
- Experience using Shopify or a similar eCommerce platform
- Experience of using WHM systems (such as Helm or a similar platform)
- An understanding of Search Engine Optimisation and best practices
- Design and basic programming knowledge e.g. HTML
- Basic understanding of digital marketing channels such as email or paid social
- Experience working with product data or content management systems
- Working knowledge of on-site analytics solutions such as Hotjar or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Retail Media activities and campaigns
- Working knowledge of Affiliate networks
- An interest in skincare, beauty, or the wider industry
