Are you an experienced e-commerce professional who has had ownership of growing a digital operation? Do you enjoy leading a team, whilst rolling your sleeves up and getting involved? Do you want to be a big fish in a small but rapidly growing pond? Then read on!

We are an e-commerce only company split into three brands - two well-established B2B trade-only sites (Balloon Market and Floristry Market) and a brand-new B2C site just about to launch – Craft Market. This is a genuinely exciting time to join us and we are looking for someone to take a key role within the business leading the e-commerce and digital marketing functions.

What will the role consist of?

Work closely with MD and management team to put together comprehensive strategies for the growth of all 3 brands with initial focus being on Craft Market.

Leading the team

  • Managing, developing and getting the best out of the team covering everything digital from uploading products and managing the sites to digital marketing and content creation.
  • Setting clear goals, having regular one-to-ones and helping each person develop in their role.
  • Being a hands-on leader - not managing from a distance but working closely with the team day to day. This is essential as we are a small, growing company.

Ownership of all three websites

  • Taking full responsibility for all three websites, from how they look to how they perform and, of course, how they convert.
  • Managing the technical functions of the sites, working with developers and external agencies where needed and identifying what we need and don’t need!
  • Keeping on top of the Big Commerce platform with the focus being the user experience.
  • Making sure everything is up to scratch from a compliance point of view. GDPR, accessibility, UK consumer law etc
  • Monitoring site health - speed, uptime, technical SEO. You hate a slow page as much as we do. AI is becoming more important than ever, so we need to be visible in that space also.

Growing our new brand from scratch!

  • This is the exciting bit. Craft Market, the newest crafting brand in the industry is just about to launch and we need someone to really drive it forward.
  • Owning the end-to-end customer journey from the first click on an ad through to getting them to come back again. You will be a massive fan of Hotjar / Clarity etc.
  • Exploring marketplace opportunities to help grow quickly. This could be a quick win particularly TikTok shop and Amazon.

Growing our other brands

  • Keeping both B2B sites performing well - our trade customers expect a slick, reliable experience and are our bread and butter. They are just as important as the new shiny website and our existing customers will still expect the service we are known for. These balls cannot be dropped!

Digital marketing for the brands

  • Owning the digital marketing strategy across Social platforms, PPC, paid social, email, SEO and AI.
  • Using Klaviyo to build, manage and constantly evolve the segmented email campaigns across all brands.
  • Managing budgets and reporting on KPIs with the key one being the cost of marketing as a percentage of sales. We have kept this low for years by building brands rather than just selling products and want to do this with Craft Market.
  • Working with our Google and Bing partner on paid strategies
  • Building and executing the B2C marketing calendar along with our content co-ordinator and internal content creators - launches, promotions, seasonal campaigns, the lot.
  • Reporting on performance weekly to the rest of the management team through analysis of all the data available to you including GA4.

What do we need from you?

This role is going to be a big role in a relatively small but growing business. There are 45 of us at the moment. This is what we will need from you:

  • 3+ years in an e-commerce management or senior digital role
  • A great people person and know how to get the best out of a diverse team.
  • Genuine and extensive hands-on knowledge of e-commerce platforms, including Big Commerce.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage AI within a small business.
  • You will have a positive can-do attitude. Absolutely key!
  • Experience in the digital marketing world. Including but not limited to paid, social, email.
  • Able to quickly learn how to live and breathe a culture focussed on the customer and users.
  • Experience of Klaviyo, Meta, Google, Bing, all social platforms, SEO and AI.
  • You have meticullous attention to detail :)
  • You are analytical and excited by numbers – you know your way around GA4 and how to extract good data from it.
  • You thrive when having to find solutions to problems
  • In the words of Ted Lasso “Be curious, not Judgemental”. If you hear the phrase “We have always done it that way” you hear “Is there an opportunity to improve here?”
  • You understand the importance of great user experience and have probably read ‘Don’t make me think’ by Steve Krug
  • You love to learn and will want to develop yourself further whilst getting a buzz from utilising what you already know.
  • You are open minded enough to listen to other’s ideas, no matter who they are from within the business and external to the business.
