We are seeking an experienced E-Commerce Operations & Marketplace Manager to lead and optimise the daily operations of our growing online furniture retail business across multiple UK marketplaces.
This is a senior-level, hands-on position reporting directly to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving operational efficiency, overseeing cross-functional business activities, supporting commercial growth, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience across all online sales channels.
Main ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Oversee and coordinate daily operations across the business
- Identify and implement improvements to operational systems, workflows, and internal processes
- Work collaboratively with customer service, finance, logistics, and marketing teams
- Produce operational reports, KPIs, and performance insights for senior management
Marketplace & Online Retail Management
Manage operational activity across major UK online marketplaces including:
- Amazon
- Wayfair
- B&Q
- The Range
- eBay
- Additional online sales channels
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting marketplace growth strategies and sales performance
- Coordinating pricing, product listings, promotions, and stock availability
- Ensuring operational readiness during peak trading periods and promotional campaigns
- Monitoring marketplace standards, seller performance metrics, and fulfilment operations
Inventory, Supply Chain & Logistics
- Monitor inventory levels and stock movement using inventory management systems
- Manage replenishment planning and stock forecasting
- Coordinate with warehouses, fulfilment providers, and logistics partners
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and negotiate commercially beneficial arrangements
Financial & Administrative Support
- Support operational finance activities including payroll coordination and bookkeeping assistance
- Monitor operational spending and assist with budgeting and cost management
- Oversee order processing systems and operational administration
- Ensure accurate reporting and organised operational procedures
Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and staff training
- Manage workloads, schedules, and operational performance
- Support team development in customer service, marketplace operations, and online retail processes
- Encourage high standards of teamwork and accountability
Customer Service & Compliance
- Ensure excellent customer experience across deliveries, returns, and after-sales support
- Resolve operational issues and escalations efficiently
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, marketplace requirements, and health & safety standards
- Maintain organised and compliant warehouse and operational environments
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in an Operations Manager, E-Commerce Manager, or Marketplace Operations role
- Strong background in online retail and marketplace operations
- Knowledge of UK e-commerce platforms and fulfilment processes
- Experience managing suppliers, inventory, logistics, and operational teams
- Strong organisational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Commercially minded with a proactive approach to improving business performance
- Comfortable working closely with directors and senior management
