About the Role

We are looking for motivated and reliable E-Commerce Shift Manager to join our team at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, supporting the fast-paced e-commerce and import operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse during your assigned shift. You will lead a team of warehouse staff to ensure that goods are received, stored, and dispatched accurately, efficiently, and safely, while maintaining high standards of productivity and compliance.

What We’re Looking For

Glasgow Prestwick Airport is looking for motivated, reliable, and safety-focused individuals to join our team as Warehouse Operatives within Terminal E. In this fast-paced, operational role, you’ll play a key part in keeping freight moving efficiently through the airport, ensuring that cargo is handled safely, securely, and on time. Your role goes beyond simply moving freight — you help maintain the high standards our airline partners and customers rely on. With a strong attention to detail and commitment to doing things the right way, you’ll ensure that all goods are handled with care, any issues are identified quickly, and operations run smoothly. You’ll be working as part of a close-knit team in a physically active environment, where communication, reliability, and a proactive attitude are essential. Whether transferring freight from the aircraft, preparing freight for onward transport to last mile providers, your contribution is vital to the overall success of the operation.

You are not just handling cargo; you are representing the airport and our partners by delivering a safe, efficient, and professional service at every stage of the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the operation within Terminal E, ensuring that a high level of customer service is provided to all customers
  • Professionally manage/supervise all staff within your control ensuring compliance with all company and departmental procedures
  • Support and guide team leaders with their daily tasks
  • Liaise with any customers as and when required
  • Be the point of contact for any final mile providers, ensuring they are updated at all times on progress and any required changes during the shift
  • Ensure all processes are followed in relation to customers/UKBF procedures
  • Ensure that a cost-effective operation is in place and to minimise overtime and lieu
  • Ensure all trucks are released as per our departmental procedures
  • Recognise areas of improvement within the section and highlight training needs with staff, reporting this to the Manager
  • Ensure that all vehicles, manpower and equipment are managed and operated in a safe and compliant manner in or around the Warehouse. This includes ensuring all pre-use checks are undertaken
  • Ensure all staff are trained to undertake any tasks or operate any equipment that they may be required to use
  • Ensure the warehouse is ready and set up to accept a flight
  • Ensure the warehouse and staff welfare areas are in a good condition on completion of breaking down each flight
  • Liaise with all operational Managers and Supervisors for the best allocation of manpower
  • Communicate with operational departments, such as Ground handling, Cargo Services, Aviation Services and Motor Transport to ensure an efficient operation

About You

Essential

  • Significant experience working in a warehouse, logistics, cargo, or operational environment
  • Demonstrable experience supervising or managing teams
  • Experience managing shift based operations
  • Experience working to operational procedures and compliance standards
  • Experience dealing with operational deadlines and service critical environments
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including goods receipt, storage, and dispatch
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
  • Ability to manage people, equipment, and workload safely and efficiently
  • Understanding of data protection principles and confidentiality
  • Ability to complete records, reports, and documentation accurately

Desirable

  • Experience working in an aviation, airport, or controlled environment
  • Experience liaising with external partners, customers, or service providers
  • Experience of roster planning, absence management, and overtime control
  • Experience undertaking accident/incident investigations
  • Experience in managing a

  • Organise, prioritise and manage time / work effectively.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
